DIN

DIN

Director Identification Number A Director Identification Number (DIN) is a unique, lifetime, 8-digit numeric identifier allotted by the Central Government to any individual intending to be a director in an Indian company. It is mandatory for appointment as a director.

Where it appears in practice

It matters whenever an individual is being appointed as a director in a new or existing company, or when filing annual returns and forms with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, where the DIN must be quoted.

A worked example

If Amit wants to incorporate a private limited company and become its director, he must first apply for and obtain a DIN by submitting Form DIR-3 along with his identity and address proofs.

Let the practice handle it
