ROC

ROC

Registrar of Companies The Registrar of Companies (ROC) is an office under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) that handles the administration of companies and LLPs in a specific state or jurisdiction, including their registration, compliance tracking, and striking off.

Where it appears in practice

It matters for state-specific corporate compliance. Any change in the company's registered office, directors, or capital structure must be filed with and approved by the respective ROC where the company is registered.

A worked example

If a company based in Mumbai fails to file its annual returns for consecutive years, the ROC Mumbai can issue a notice and potentially strike off the company's name from the register.

Let the practice handle it

This term sits inside real compliance work — returns, filings, and deadlines. That work is one of the services the practice runs end to end.
