Taxpayer Information Summary (TIS) The Taxpayer Information Summary is a simplified, category-wise summary of a taxpayer's financial information derived from the Annual Information Statement (AIS). It aggregates values to assist in easy tax return filing.
Where it appears in practice
It provides the exact aggregated figures that are pre-filled in the Income Tax Return forms. Any feedback submitted on the detailed AIS will automatically recalculate the derived values in the TIS.
A worked example
If a taxpayer has multiple savings accounts, the AIS will show each interest credit separately, while the TIS will aggregate them into a single "Interest from Savings Bank" figure for easy entry into the ITR.
