EVC

EVC

Electronic Verification Code An Electronic Verification Code (EVC) is a 10-digit alphanumeric code sent to a taxpayer's registered mobile number and email ID, used to electronically verify Income Tax Returns and other forms without needing a physical signature or Digital Signature Certificate.

Where it appears in practice

It is highly convenient for individual taxpayers and small entities to instantly authenticate tax returns, avoiding the hassle of sending a physically signed ITR-V to the Centralized Processing Center (CPC) in Bengaluru.

A worked example

After filing her ITR-1 on the e-filing portal, Priya selects the "e-Verify using Aadhaar OTP" option. She receives an EVC on her phone, enters it online, and instantly completes her return verification.

Let the practice handle it

This term sits inside real compliance work — returns, filings, and deadlines. That work is one of the services the practice runs end to end.
