FCRA

Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010

FCRA registration is a mandatory compliance for Indian NGOs, trusts, and associations to legally receive and utilize foreign donations or contributions, ensuring these funds do not adversely affect the national interest.

Where it appears in practice

It matters whenever a non-profit organization plans to scale its operations using international grants, as receiving foreign funds without FCRA approval attracts severe penalties and cancellation.

A worked example

An Indian educational NGO wants to receive a $50,000 [VERIFY] grant from a US foundation. It must first obtain an FCRA registration and receive the funds exclusively in a designated FCRA bank account at the SBI Main Branch, New Delhi [VERIFY].

Let the practice handle it

This term sits inside real compliance work — returns, filings, and deadlines. That work is one of the services the practice runs end to end.
